Two SkiveLines interlinked by rbc robotics

In today's manufacturing industry, efficiency and precision are crucial to remain globally competitive. A clever loading and unloading solution using industrial robots meets these requirements while saving space and resources. Several such systems were implemented for a Pittler T&S customer by colleagues at rbc robotics, the robot automation experts within the DVS TECHNOLOGY GROUP. The SMART FLEX automation solution, which was specifically designed for the customer, leads to a significant increase in productivity and cost efficiency.
At the heart of this solution is a robotic cell that supplies two Pittler SkiveLine machines model PV 320 with blanks and removes the finished machined components. But more than that, the robotic cell has a wide range of functions, which we briefly present below.

Automated feeding and linking

The system is fed or loaded by means of a feed belt or, alternatively, an innovative binpicking solution in which the workpieces are gripped directly from the pallet by the robot. The component weights here are usually up to 40 kg, which would make manual loading extremely difficult.

Thanks to intelligent component recognition, the robot picks up the unmachined parts precisely and gently, feeds them just as precisely to the SkiveLine, and also ensures automatic interlinking of the two processing machines. This results in continuous operation and significantly minimizes downtime. The two Pittler SkiveLines can be operated autonomously, which significantly increases overall capacity and efficiency.

Removal of finished components

The robotic cell not only feeds raw parts, it also removes semi-finished components and turns them. Finished components are removed from the machines and deposited precisely and gently.

Precise handling helps minimize human error and damage. The robot's high accuracy ensures that each component is deposited in perfect condition and ready for the next step in production.

Labeling of the components and other additional operations.

In addition to pure loading, unloading and interlinking, rbc robotics offers many additional modular extensions. For example, the component can be labeled automatically (needle embosser or laser) and counter-read or cleaned, for example. The labeling, for example, enables easy identification and traceability of the products. Whether serial number, date of manufacture or customer-specific marking - the cell can handle these tasks effortlessly, optimizing quality control and the production process as a whole.

A total solution from the DVS TECHNOLOGY GROUP

The integration of such loading and unloading solutions shows how traditional production processes can be optimized by modern automation technologies.

Here, rbc robotics demonstrates the possibilities of its flexible and expandable automation solutions. With modularized and proven components, productivity and efficiency go hand in hand.
